ai weiwei's sunflower seeds

"Ai Weiwei’s work ‘Sunflower seeds’ is a great example of relational art. The artist is created a ten tonnes landscape of porcelain sunflower seeds which covered the floor of the Tate Modern's gallery Turbine Hall in 2010. These ceramic sunflower seeds have been individually hand made and painted by skilled artisans in the city of Jingdezhen in China, which is famous for its production of Chinese Imperial porcelain. There were approximately 1600 people working on this project and in the beginning the public could walk on the surface, pickup the seeds and interact with it."
